Alkagesta said in a company press release that it attended the 2026 Argus Fertilizer Caspian, Black Sea and Eastern European Markets Conference in Istanbul. The event, organised by Argus Media, drew more than 450 participants representing over 250 companies from 45 countries, according to the announcement. Discussions centred on developing export destinations, changes in trade routes and approaches to cooperation across the Caspian region, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

The company’s delegation comprised Fertilizer Desk Lead Vusal Muradov, Fertilizer Trader Tural Sabirzade and Mustafa Yigit Shen from its operations function. Alkagesta said the three representatives met participants from trading companies, producers, logistics businesses and market intelligence providers during the two-day programme. The announcement described an event spanning commercial and service functions within the fertilizer supply chain.

Shipping disruption formed part of the market context set out in the release. Alkagesta argued that interruptions along important maritime corridors had highlighted weaknesses in supply chains designed primarily around efficiency rather than resilience. In the company’s assessment, re-establishing physical product movements takes time rather than occurring in a single step. These observations were presented as Alkagesta’s view of conditions facing the global fertilizer market.

The release also outlined the scope of Alkagesta’s fertilizer business, which it said covers nitrogen, phosphate and speciality products. The company described its approach as connecting supply from international origins with destinations supported by agricultural demand fundamentals. It identified Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and emerging agricultural markets as areas where it seeks to develop longer-term supply relationships.

Separately, Alkagesta said it had recently obtained access to the Argus Open Markets window for European biodiesel, HVO and UCO. The company presented that development as part of its increased involvement in Argus price assessment processes across different commodity segments, beyond the fertilizer activities discussed in the conference announcement.
